Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Luxurious Haven, Oceanview Suite has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
