Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Winter Deals! Luxurious Haven, Oceanview Suite has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
