Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Modern condo in oceanfront building with pools, hot tubs, arcade, & beach access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
