Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Modern condo in oceanfront building with pools, hot tubs, arcade, & beach access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
