Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Myrtle Beach Resort RT0716 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective.
