Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Myrtle Beach Resort RT1610 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
