Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to select the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Myrtlewood 2BR 1st Floor, end unit, WiFi, pool, Cal Ripken & Oct renters welcome has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
