Tips to get the very best rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. **New** - Spring\/Summer Book Now! Oceanfront, What a View!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
