Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on a vacation week and a max budget.

- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
