Our top Myrtle Beach rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Spectacular Ocean View, Swimming Pools, 4th Floor has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
