Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. NEW! 2BR - Direct Oceanfront in Private Arcadian I has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
