Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To book the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Spacious 1 BR Oceanview Suite! Dogs Welcome! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
