Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Spacious 1 BR Oceanview Suite! Dogs Welcome! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
