Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and choose your Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. New Honeymoon King Suite, Oceanfront, Heated Pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
