Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local tours and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- To start, have your family select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. New Honeymoon King Suite, Oceanfront, Heated Pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
