Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. NEW! Short Walk to Beach, Private Pool, Fast Wifi! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
