Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To book the best rental within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. RECENTLY UPDATED. -Direct Oceanfront Shore Dr. Pelican's Landing 3BR\/2.5BA Condo has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
