How to book the best vacation property experience:
Get the best value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Amazing Views - Ocean Front 3BR Condo! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a great stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
