Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Newly Upgraded Direct Oceanfront 2-br Condo on Top Floor in Broadwalk, Downtown has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
