Tricks and tips to get the very best rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beachside Cottage w\/ Ocean Views-Trailers Welcome has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
