Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beachside Cottage w\/ Ocean Views-Trailers Welcome has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
