Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- First, have your group agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ocean Enclave, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club - 2 Bedroom Premier - Ocean Front has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
