Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Ocean Forest Plaza Penthouse???? Pool ???? has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
