Finding the best vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes - Site B3 - One row back from the Beach! Walk to all OL amenities! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
