Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightvacation home:
- Start by having your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes - Site M28 2BR\/2BA one block from the water park & campground store has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
