Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes Beach House, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, pet friendly on a small lake has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
