Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Ocean Lakes Beautiful Beach House located on Magnolia Lake Canal has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
