Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes Site S33 - Unique Experience! Tiny House w\/ Loft & Sleeper! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
