Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful Ocean View 2 BR & 2 BA on the Beach!!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
