How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Gorgeous 3 Bedroom Penthouse on the Golden Mile has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
