Strategies for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Getaway w\/ Spectacular 10th-Floor Views! Updated Unit & Heated Pools has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
