Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront - Amazing - Beach Farmhouse Remodel! Book Early for Best Dates! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
