Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Breathtaking Views & Bliss in our Oceanfront Suite has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
