Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 704 Direct Oceanfront 2 bedroom\/2 bath condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
