Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Immaculate Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
