Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To book the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Compass Cove Resort Unit 1217 - Oceanfront has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
