How to get the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Jr Executive Suite on the 16th Flr has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
