Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful ocean views from every room! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If not, email or call the host before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
