Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Planning and picking the rightrental:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront One Bedroom Condo at Sands Dunes Sleeps 6-Sand Dunes 2428 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
