Rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your budget:
- To book the largest rental home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beautifully Updated 1 BR Condo-Ocean Views! Landmark 433 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your agreement.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
