Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family select vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Studio Suite with breathtaking views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
