Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanview condo in Brighton, 1504 - full access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
