Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightvacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Near beach indoor pool hot tub and outdoor pool has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
More considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
