Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental home:
- First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Our Favorite Beach Cottage - 2\/2 Sleeps 6 \n has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
