Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the most suitable rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Relaxing 2 bedroom, 2 bath, Oceanside Condo, which is 80 steps from the Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
