Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. GOING COASTAL in Ocean Lakes, 2 bdr 2 bath has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
