How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Enjoy the View: Updated & Remodeled SeaWatch Condo has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
