Booking the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the best rental:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. River Oaks 2 BR, sleeps 5 ppl has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
