Booking the best rental home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing your prefectvacation home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. River Oaks 2 BR, sleeps 5 ppl has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
