Rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental:
- First and foremost, have your family choose vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Fabulous Penthouse at Sands Ocean Club- Shore Dr. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Have a great stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
