Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Salt Water Stays - Relaxing 2-bedroom condo in Myrtle Beach with WiFi, AC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. Otherwise, contact the host before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
