Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Sand Dunes, 8th Floor, Direct Oceanfront, Pools! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
