Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing a perfectvacation home:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. SAND DUNES SOUTH TOWER 1150 AND 1149 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
