Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Two-Bedroom Villa has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
