Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Short walk to pools and the beach! Updated 2bdrm condo! All Hilton pool access! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
