How to get the best rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Spacious 2-bed, 2-bath villa w\/ full kitchen. Perfect for a relaxing vacation. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
